I have a strong suspicion that the coin is being played by some prominent shills for this coin.

The price never got to anywhere near 33k - 40k satoshis (crowdsale price range). Once it reached near (considering discounts for large amounts of BTC investment), the price went down quickly (accelerated by this downtrend in many tokens).
