Turkey and Saudi Arabia have this custom as far as I know. Most of the time this doesn't work but there has been very few rare cases where it has worked. This doesn't mean that I agree with such custom, I think the most appropriate punishment for the rapist is death or life in prison. He the raper shows is an animal who cannot control his instinct therefore he cannot be considered human. Humans are differed from animals by the way they think before they do something while animals use their instincts.

So the two examples you found are countries where women are already forced to marry people whom they don't want to. Even if she isn't raped she's forced to marry someone so it's really the same as rape. It's not the marry who you raped system that makes it bad, it's that marriage is already bad. So this is not a good example.

So how about doing this in other cultures? He is forced to marry her because he raped her, and she divorces him the next day and takes half. How could that be bad? All the people saying how horrible it is to have a marry who you rape system are just preventing the rape victims from getting any money or compensation.
