I would like to add some points if you guys dont mind. BTC cannot become the world currency until or unless there is internet in whole world. Second to that, BTC was designed for big transactions; it must be introduced in our daily life small payments. At last the transaction fees must be cheap when the second point converts into reality.

Some of work has been done on second point and I hope other requirements will also be treated soon. Bitcoins is simply beauty!

Realistically I don't' think bitcoin will be the one and only world currency, but rather one of many different currencies that people can choose to use.
