So far no altcoin has ever outperformed Bitcoin. You underestimate the network effect and BTC's first mover advantage. Bitcoin's industry and ecosystem is huge and most alts don't even have that.Bitcoin gets all the media attention, hardly any altcoin. Furthermore with the activation of SegWit lots of new implementations will push bitcoin even more forward and niche business models of many alts may become obsolete.Alts will stay here for speculation!
