Yes, just starting up any business may it be a dating site or a gambling site wont give you anything. Till the time you dont have a proper plan of how to do the things well. If you have a good mind with proper planning, you can make out maximum from either of them.

Everyone have different interests and these two sites will be profitable if promoted to the community or the right people, if you want to promote here it better is a gambling site, we know here a lot of people are fans of gambling and greed have made them love with gambling, so if creating a gambling site and then promoting it here I think is the right choice.
