yes of course but you you should have btc first to buy eth. i am not yet trying to buy eth directly with fiat because i have btc. btw, if you want to buy eth, i think you can install jaxx or coinomi and send your btc to that wallet so you can buy directly the eth and then you can hold it for a while.

You can buy it directly. I bought .5ETH the other week from coinbase.

if you are from US I guess you can use coinbase to directly buy your eth even in a small fraction as long as you have money to buy it, and you got a good decision mate, holding eth for little some years will bring you a huge profits, don't confuse yourself about 1 whole eth its still up to you whether you buy the
whole or buy some piece.
