Perhaps Tony could have laid some freeze mechanism (airdropped bytes (or big part of it) are frozen for at least 1 year). That might have created enough time for technical and business development.


this is actually a very good idea. It sucks I didn't think of it earlier I would definitely have propagated that idea. All bytes received for free based on BTC holdings should be frozen/timelocked for a year.
It's a terrible idea: if Bytes are frozen, they can't be used. That doesn't only block them from being sold at an exchange, it also blocks them from being used to buy stuff, or send to friends to experience the Byteball wallet.

A partial freeze might have worked. But it could also just delay dumping the coins. In a way, this is what's happening already: the Bytes under Tony's control are frozen and only released to the public in small batches.
