Which religion? There are so many of them. All of them claim to have a monopoly on god. Pick the wrong one, or be unlucky enough to be born into the wrong culture, and the all loving god, will punish you for eternity in fiery hell. Nice.

Yet not one of them claims there is literally a magical man in the sky. There are clearly problems with the ways people interpret religious texts, but there is much wisdom that can be gleamed from them when they are approached with a critical and logical viewpoint. But that is tangential to the comment I was addressing.
