There are only 3 players, so even bad players will often have the feeling of winning a tournament. Due to multiple reasons, the skill edge better players have is also minimised in this format.

How can the most successful poker online poker tournament format be applied to fantasy football?

Introduce a tournament that

- Makes it easier to win more often.
- Has a lottery element/s
- Makes it easier for novice players to compete against skilled players.

Example: 5 A Side XFC Tourney

3 random players compete with their top 5 player picks to win up to 100 000 XFC for just 10 XFC!
+ you get a free spin to have a chance to win a 3* or better player card every time you enter!

Rules: You may use a maximum of two, 3* players or better per game and you can enter as many tournaments as you want.

How it works:

Prizes are selected randomly once 3 players have entered using the same prize pool multiplier shown in the poker example above.
(In the above table, 6% is kept by PokerStars as rake, meaning there is an additional 60 000 XFC per 1 million XFC paid in tourney fees that can be used to purchase and randomly award 3* or better player cards just for participating. )

- Only having to select 5 players should be a lot easier for novice players & decrease the skill edge
- Limiting the amount of >3* players per game further reduces edge of richer players.
- Because there are only 3 random people per tourney, even bad players should often win a tournament.
- Players have the excitement of having the possibility to win 100k XFC or up to a 5* player card every time they enter a 3 man tournament for just a 10 XFC buy in.

This definitely sounds like a great idea, but might need to be tweak a little. It solves one of the major problems, getting players to move from freerolls to contests they pay a fee to enter. I would certainly enter if they were available.
