It cant be said so surely. There are chances of bitcoin going up again after the hardfork as people will be sure of future investment. It could have dropped already if people would have thought of fork in the negative way but thats not the case right now. The price will continue to rise in the want of more profits. Your speculation would have been turned out true if fork was all negative without free coins.

There are different factors which are responsible for pumping or dumping the prices of bit coin as I am also not sure to say something about the downfall of the price up to 4000$ because there are a lot of fluctuations so I am very positive and hopeful that the price of bit coin will rise and rise.
