But I've been staking the coin since day 1 of receiving the coin and has not gotten any more coins on top of that.

You will be staking too low for the amount of coins you have vs the network weight that it's almost 600million so 3,500 would stake maybe once a month I don't even know, its better to get some and stake bigger amounts, price is dirt cheap still right now.
