Personnaly i have no doubt that russian security forces did their work perfectly. However i agree with you, there is no death penalty in russia anymore ? What s the point of paying for her ife to her death and who knows what happen she may get out again... dead done. A please don't tell me that there could be a mistake... she walked with the head...
As far as I know, the death sentence is no longer valid or legal in Russia. And this women has been termed as insane, which means that she is not guilty of the crimes which she committed. If the mental institution certifies that she is alright after a few years, then she won't have to spend any time in the prison. She can walk free and will be deported to Uzbekistan.

Then the problem is that the mental institution has all interest to say she is okay to prove that their work is useful... myself i belive she crosses the line of insanity... and as such once dimmed healed should be executed. I am not sure about China, but they regularly execute party officials who engage in corruption. What you said might have happened many decades back, but such incidents are unheard of ever since the 1990s. But then, you might have got confused China with North Korea (not sure about the DPRK as well, but it is quite possible there).
