Bro I don't think you know how programming works. 'Ripping off' is completely subjective. Everyone copies everyone elses work. If they aren't copying verbatim, they copy and swap some variables, maybe change some classes and move things around so it looks different, at the most basic level people look to see how they figure out a solution and simply rewrite it in their own work. It's like the news. Everyone copies everyone else, they just present it in a different way, with a different tone, and emphasize different things. At the end of the day it's basically the same thing (except for the rare outlet that does a little more digging). The only difference is, some people are really good at changing that presentation compared to others. The stuff SP is copying tends not to even be what earns you money either, he has GPL violations for things like stratum code. If it was JUST copying it wouldn't be any faster.

Remember the whole debacle where Claymore was accused of using someone elses work, not crediting them, GPL violations, etc? He finally admitted to it and 'rewrote it'. Rewriting isn't remaking the wheel from the ground up, it's literally changing what it looks like enough where people wont bitch about it. Once you know how things work you essentially have the 'solution' to the problem, then it's all about dressing.

That's probably true, but he didn't just fork a miner on github and employed his bag of tricks to make it slightly faster, then asked for "donations", unlike the OP here. I do believe Claymore puts a lot more effort than sp so his fees are justified.

I feel fees are justified when it makes me more money. Difference between the way you're thinking and the way I'm thinking, mine is based on financial gain and yours on moral high ground. I don't think you're in the right profession if you're prioritizing morals. This isn't like blood diamonds or slave trading in Somalia. There are much worse things in the world and when people do work that's worth monetary support I try and offer it, obviously to a certain extent. 2% on a miner that is 20% faster then open source is worth (talking publicly available open source, not redistributed close source).

I never used his miners.
But he's making me less money because he makes diff rise.
And people don't understand that by buying his mods they are also making less money. But let's all this continue, I honestly don't care after all this time. If people continue making the same mistakes, I don't know what to do.

If you're not using it sure and operating under the premise that everyone uses it, also sure. Same can be said about Claymore miners. In order to get to that point there has to be absolutely no competition. Even if say 70% of all bitcore hashrate is SPs miner, I'd say more then half of that is using non-paid versions.

If we end up in a scenario where open source isn't competitive, the lack of SP doesn't also mean people wont optimize and sell miners behind closed doors. Competition and constant development is what keeps miners honest. I was mining in '14 and had the fun experience of scrypt and x11 going closed source and behind closed doors, where I literally had no options. SP may not be the best programmer in the world and some might be better, but mining is a professional line of work and we need professional (IE paid and work it like a job) developers, not hobby developers.

Hell even more recent, if you remember Equihash and how things were basically a shitshow when it came out. The normal devs around here refused to work on it and the handful of devs that did (for Nvidia) did on weekends, then gave up when they got surpassed by someone else. Nvidia fell way behind the curve as Claymore was trailblazing with improvements. It wasn't until Nicehash decided to make their own miner that Nvidia mining caught up and actually became competitive with AMD (which was promptly, arguably, ripped off by EWBF). That was still two months after initial release. TWO months of amazingly good mining on a brand new algorithm with a strong coin leading it. So artificially low network difficulty and extremely stable profit.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate you for your work and also try to support, but occasionally releasing things, especially things that don't necessarily need work (because you are working on something fun) isn't the same as working on something that isn't necessarily fun, but is needed. SP tends to work on things that are in demand and gets monetary support because of it. I have no qualms with a situation like that. Do I wish it was open source? Sure. We don't always have luxury of stuff like that though.

Bitcore sp-mod #5 is around 30-35% faster than ccminer 2.2 on the new 1070ti

I am adding +5% and sending out to the donators for free.

Are the clockrates stable though? That's all that matters at this point. If you can't stabilize the clock thrashing and everyone needs to lower the intensity, it negates the purpose of the optimizations.
