I have also found my old wallet 
even though I am almost sure that I have had my ECC coins on an exchange, most likely askcoin.net that vanished 
Anyhow, I have installed Lynx and imported my wallet.dat file, nothing really happened in the app, seems like it did not recognise the wallet, also the sync progress is at only 0.4% after hours of running the app. Is that normal?

Mine just completed after two full days, but my balance is showing 0, when it shouldn't. try adding
rescan=1
zapwallettxes=1
to your eccoin.conf file and then restarting the wallet.
just make sure to remove them again afterwards
