Electrum has been around the community for years and it's open-source. So rest assured that your coins are safe as long as you've downloaded in their official site: https://electrum.org/#download and keep your PC clean as well as encrypt your wallet with a strong password. But I think a simple google search about electrum will solve your hesitation.

I'm not sure if creating another wallet with the same seed in blockchain.info will solve the problem since it's clearly because of their buggy software. But you can still try it if you want.
