Monero would probably lose most of its value, but still dangle by a thread. Seeing that XMR is probably the only coin that is actually used to buy and sell real, physical items it probably wouldnt die out completely.

However most people who hold XMR probably hold to speculate and the items that are usually bought and sold are illegal.

Perhaps lightning will fix this potential issue soon...

Lightning will fix a lot problems, but not sure that we will see it soon(
