There are a lot of good hackers out there right now because anything can be learned now a days in this modern world. Bitcoin being a digital currency means it is within the internet which is accessible by a lot of people, you just need to pick a good kind of wallet but I agree with you having a cold storage or offline wallet because it is much secure that trusting it on third party software.
