a light wallet as you know from other cryptocurrencies are not possible, since they choose to use monero. Since the big privacy part of monero, you need to rescan every transaction in the blockchain with your private view key, to sync your wallet.

the mining power has nothing to do with the transaction speed, a block is mined every minute, doesnt matter if there a millions of miners or 3. If you want your transaction to be quicker you need to higher your tx fee.
