I think the SONM projects has a long way to go since super computer will not be used as much as laptop or desk computer in the near future.

You didnt got the idea. Finally people are interested in computation outputs not in computation itself. I expect you are primary interested to see something on your screen or hear something out of your speakers. Your PC simply is the machine who does the job.

Instead you should have better screens and speakers. Your virtual PC could be within a global Network (SONM). You only use and pay what you need. No waste of resources by switching off you PC. If you have heavy computations your supercomputer is around.

This would be in many views much more energy efficient and effective than todays home PC infrastructure. This is important since only cheap computations will allow emerging technologies like AI, dynamic control of machines and infrastructure like robots, cars, water cleaning plants, realtime MRT analysis (during operations) and so on.

One simple final aspect. How to build complex micro-bots if your computation unit cant be nano? Virtual-Pc.
