Not dependent on any third party for redemption, XRP is the only currency in the Ripple network that does not entail counterparty risk, and it is the only native digital asset. It;s a bridge currency in a very similar manner to bitcoin. Yes it's not POS or POW but uses consensus protocol.... and?

Most coins listed under the crypto umbrella have less reason to be considered under that umbrella. XRP is being adopted as the darling crypto of the financial sector. That interest is what gives value to XRP and I still don't get why you think it shouldn't be listed as a crypto when you look at most other crypto coins listed?
