They're unhappy because of their desires. They are depressed because they can't get what they want. They can't achieve what others can. Being emotionally sad causes stress which is not good for our health. Physically strong yes, but emotionally broken. I have thought many times why and the answer lies within people themselves as well.

Absolutely agree. Depression destroys from the inside and the reasons can be different for everyone.
