Novak Djokovic was taken out early on and Alexander Zverev was taken out even earlier on in the competition.
And they were heavy favorites to get to the semis and one into the finals. But not Chung nor Cilic.
Stan Wawrinka bowing out in the second/third round was the first top player to fall.
So you knew something was up and this one would be a pure up for grabs for anyone to make it very far into the tournament.
Even though Cilic is a fairly good player all his luck will be needed to even get to a third set with the likes of the Federer played last time in the finals at this very Australian Open same time one year ago.

Yes, there have been many surprises this year, like Sandgren, Edmund, Chung. As it is easy to see to win, players must be 100% of the physical form otherwise they can lose to anyone.
With the same physical form it is normal to win the strongest like in all sports.
