KnCminer published "description and estimates" about their design (not a finished product) from the "get go".

The deception lay on the fact they promised to release specific information about the PSU while they were aware they could not keep up with their promises. If they need a prototype or the finished product to release the specific information, what is the purpose to state that they will release specific details about the PSU? Answer to your question: people do not just think, people are already really sure the case is not designed to be mounted in a rack. The case must be adapted altogether with an external PSU over a shelf to fit a rack.
