While you are still learning it's better to buy more potential major top 10 coins and hold. When the times come that you are ready to trade then you can play the game. Trading is not like that, there is such requirements to be a trader, if you have the money to start Trading and you have knowledge about it, why not. Buying those top 10 coins would do, but since OP is just a beginner, it would be better for him to start on cheap coins but also have the potential to grow(though its not bigger like those top 10 coins) when he is going to have profits in the long run.

But the point here is Trading is free thing to do, you just have to know to yourself if you are ready to all of the consequences that might happen while you are Trading.
