You certainly can start inviting people like normal, but the screenshots serve as proof that the users actually got invited, it is optional and you are welcomed to leave that field empty and participate even without invites.

I was thinking of joining first, then inviting people, so i was a bit confused how i would show you people i have invited, when i haven't even filled out the form myself yet, nor joined

I want to join, and then i want to invite people via referral.
