I think he means the option when funding goes through an intermediary fund. Many projects are developing this topic now, but I have not yet heard about concrete practice.

Sure and so far some projects use manual escrow for that but you are right that there is something under development that works on the basis of smart contracts. It would be great to have it in place for all projects as a standard as it would also foster productivity in development as there incentive situation would be much better.
