Credit card companies will allow chargebacks for at least 6 months and will go longer if needed with proof of fault (not receiving item).

This is generally true although each CC will have its own policy. It is not unheard of with people charging back well past the time frame, so I do not believe that was their intention.

From my understanding, other factors to consider are cost of the charge back and quality of the client (banking history, etc.) after the deadline.
