Why so pessimistic? Youtube has shown time and time again that it does not care for its streamers, and not to mention it's restrictive video content. The people are in need of a new platform.

especially if you, as a video content provider, would like to offer a bit more - in terms of content but also ads - so people don't have to wait for the actual video to start.

I hate those ads at the beginning - and then when I think that's it there are in-video ads which you can't skip. oh the horror.

Now with IVEP we will have product placement instead

Reminds me of that one scene in Wayne's World. But it's better that way than having to get forced to go through all the ads.

It might seem like this is taking the piss out of the idea, but product placement is, in all honesty, much better than ads.
