I've not tried this with Feathercoin but with other coin wallets what I do is,
1: Backup your original wallet somewhere safe.
2: Rename your original wallet and any other folders created by the FTC wallet (this makes sure you still have it if something goes wrong).
3: Install new wallet, start it then shut it down after a few seconds (this will create any additional folders required).
4: Delete. or rename, newly created blockchain folder and replace with your old, saved, blockchain folder.
5. Restart wallet app.
