someone holds their coins in hopes that their coins will continue to rise. besides that by holding Altcoin will increase their prices as well as their development. so many are holding their coins.

The risks of holding altcoins are very high, there are some altcoins like ethereum that are very safe, but ethereum is the exception rather than the rule, most altcoins disappear after just a few months and some after a few years and it's obvious that when those coins disappear you do not want to be the one that is still holding those coins so if you are holding altcoins like that you are taking a huge risk.
