and the cpu standalone windows miner i found is flagged by Avira as bitcoingen virus (probably false positive but who know). Someone from quark should provide a safe link for beginners

Compile from source like I did on my Linux box. No 'virus' found. I was running for process continuously for 3 months (on average 1 month uptime).
