An article on the Telegraph says that the head of the Environment Agency is warning England of the need for personal water targets. In particular, people should take showers instead of baths. They are urged to use less water and companies are asked to curbed leaks in order to to prevent future shortages and damage to rivers and wildlife. Wake up, people! We should all be afraid of our resources depleting. Its not just drought, but food and clean air as well.

From my personal experience, it's very possible to save a lot of water by doing simple things.
As gross as it may sound: when you wake up in the middle of the night to pee - don't flush. Contrary to popular belief, it won't stink by the morning, and if you do (or rather don't do it) daily - it will save over 1 TON (!!!) of clean water per year per person (6 liters per flush*365 days).
And food consumerism if the worst: western society throws away so much food - it's enough to feel every hungry person in the world. So just don't buy more until you finish what you already have...
