If you don't have a VPS you can scrape the vircurex page:

which lists the devcoin block number. Because the generation rate is almost constant, and you don't need an hourly update to the change date, scraping it once every three days would be sufficient.

I've done that, intergrated with my faucet page: http://faucet.d.evco.in/ you may find it on the header of the faucet.
