I think the same applies to Ripple, all released by centralized authority and no one knows how many are really circulating.
first bitcoin is number 1 and is actually the only decentralized currency in the whole world.
these two numbers are market capitalization so when you consider a coin like ETH you have to eliminate their premines from market capitalization. for ETH 72.5% of the current supply is premined so that the market cap is down as much as possible.
