290 doesn't have analog out so no resistor mod, if you want to work without monitor you need enabled GPU part of APU on motherboard.

Sorry, but that is wrong. You can resistor mod a digital DVI connection, doesn't even take more than one resistor.

You posted a picture of DVI which have ability to be used with DVI to VGA converter. So card on picture HAVE analog output, 290 doesn't have it:
