Decisions, decisions. Of course you take the risk with any crypto related stuff Coins/mining hardware etc.

Lets take Antminer X3 (cryptonight) that mines many coins for example. The forks were totally expected ... another asics invading the cryptonight arena also totally expected. Yet some people took the opportunity and bought it. Probably some made profits some did not. I don't know but is totally their fault.

Was it expected that all Crypto will decline in value ... YES.

However the situation with Bytom and Antminer B3 is different. There was a huge premine and long token history of the coin.
Bitmain and the creators of the tensority algorithm made very sound presentations of how they will change the AI development blah blah.
Bitmain advertised the B3 as the machine developed specifically for Bytom with the help of the developers of Bytom and claiming they are the only one that will be able to mine Bytom.
Was it expected that other players will join in with their ASICs based on tensority - totally YES! Was it expected that Bitmain will flood the market with Antminer B3 ... or release a more powerful miner very soon after the B3 - YES.

However to be beaten by general purpose hardware - GPUs in terms of performance and efficiency (and to make it worse -- 2 years old hardware Grin

). Come on that is lame.
Bitmain has a 5+ years history making ASICS (SHA256 miners were single algo once). So you and they are telling me they made an ASIC based on Tensority Algo together with the developers of the algo and did not care to test it VS GPUs ( general purpose hardware that you can use for games, videos, password cracking, porn and whatnot

Reading headlines like Bytom cracked by GPU miners makes me laugh so hard (cracked by at least 3 independent developers in less than 2 weeks the Antminer B3 was made available)

The Bitmain could have just made a simple test to see how their hardware scales vs GPUs in terms of performance.... AND THEY SURE DID.
But they sold the miners anyway ... so this is called SCAM.
Why did they completely removed the Antminer B3 from their website?

BTW i have 5 Antminer A3 ... also single algo. They are losing me 2$ each (10$) per day ... sold for as little as 145 GBP at ebay bundled with the PSU

Wasting ~8KW 24/7

Am i blaming Bitmain? Maybe a little for flooding the market, but so did the other ASIC manufacturers.
Would i blame them if there was a fork? NO? Why? Because they delivered what they promised. An ASIC miner that is doing its job. Being more efficient than the General Purpose Hardware.
Innosilicon and Halong both have miners that are 4-5 times more efficient. But are/were priced accordingly of course

Of course it was a big risk buying the B3 ... but Bitmain are to blame because they failed at doing what they do best - ASIC miners.
They don't just do hardware.

But that will cost them a lot, they will lose a lot of buyers. Since the last few miners they released were total disaster. B3 being the worst of their mistakes.
