Simply because some coins are just droping down and decresing it's value after an ico and I think people dump to get rid of such losses. If we know the fundamentals and basics of crypto, we'll know how to play and deal with all the changes here. We should be alert and smart about the prices of our hodlings.

the dropping of prices results panic and doubt to the traders who are at loss. Your fundamental knowledge if it was not enough to hodl your coin you will be one of them in panic that's why a good reason for hodling is having an enough time to get the informations of the coin you hold.
