Stock exchanges are located in different countries. In America, Asia, Japan, Russia, Europe. When it is night in one country, it is day in another country, so there is such a cycle, the opening and closing of the stock exchange.

if a certain exchange states that they open on a specific hours (i.e 8am to 10 pm ) then they are actually sleeping or maybe they are manage by real people and not by bots or any other software/tools to automate the process just like what we have on decentralized exchanges .

you can only call the market never sleeps if they are always operating 24 hours / 7 days a week no matter what time zones you are in . that said schedule is mainly available online .
