If there is a permission of the mods, I guess you need to ask the mods to lock the old thread as well. So there wont be confusion for your users on where they should ask or post something related to your services.
Even easier, if you still having an access to the old account. Use it to lock the thread, it would be much more appreciated.

Unfortunately we've lost access to the old account which is why we created a new one. We've been also working on closing the old thread and that's exactly what has now happened

No more confusion.
