Yes, it is a very good time to buy and hold ethereum because it has very good potentials, it will yield reasonable price on long term. The price of ethereum is low now and it is good to buy a coin when it is low then sell when it is high. Ethereum has very good potentials and a strong team who manage the system.

The community is indeed strong but I dont think that the smart contract is any superior compared to other smart contract platform. One think I know is that there's plenty of smart contract platform that more advantageous but ethereum
is chosen simply because most of the project have used it and that means it's already well tested.
