There was a lot of differences between bitcoin and altcoin. As you can see how altcoin was providing the more scalable blockchain compared with bitcoin and that has become the way to earn fast buck or short term trade and i think you have understood about this.
It's really different if you can try to create such a comparison between bitcoin and altcoin from the technical view.
