Yeah that is the effect of bad news spread by the media, it needs a big power like the government to say that bitcoin is a safe currency and the legality of bitcoin has been made, of course there will be many people who then use bitcoin as a currency and many will receive it

So this means a word of mouth won't just be enough for people to openly accept bitcoins.
