The first time I heard a prediction of such magnitude was about three years ago, when there prevailed an atmosphere of great optimism about the prominent place that Bitcoin would have in the economy of the future. Today the bets towards Bitcoin do not seem to be so high, and even seem to have stagnated in quite conservative predictions. Personally, I do not see Bitcoin well beyond $20,000 in the medium term, despite the efforts of speculators like McAfee to reinvigorate optimism for the future of bitcoin.
