This payment was part of a live test of the 'automated revenue sharing' aspect of the announcement that will be coming next week.

Basically, next week, DRIP will introduce the first of, what will eventually be, a suite of services offered by the DRIP team. These services will all require payment via DRIP and a portion of the revenue will be shared among our longer-term masternode holders.

It will encourage people to hold masternodes for 30 days or more, resulting in an even more stable network;
Typically, masternode rewards decrease as the number of masternodes increase on a network. With the introduction, and automation, of revenue sharing, masternodes will now have a second, and increasing, form of rewards;
Demand for DRIP coin will increase when new people join the DRIP community and need to pay for these services - as DRIP will be the only form of payment;
