We are talking about adolescents here, young people between ages 10 and 19. In most cases people from this age group are living with their parents and they don't need to earn money for buying food, paying bills etc. They just want to become like adults as soon as possible, and that's why they engage in activities like drinking alcohol, taking drugs, gambling etc. That's what "cool adults" do from their point of view.

In my opinion the main reason for this is online gambling because now there is no need to go to a physical casino and back to home late at night. Your elders will definitely ask you where are you coming from. On the other hand even a student can play online gambling from his bedroom and nobody will know about it. Online gambling provided them this facility and thats why the number is increasing day by day.

If they weren't into gambling they would ... Please read my post, which you have quoted. It's not a matter of whining about increasing number of young gamblers. This is a serious and complicated problem which we are trying to solve here.
