mining and profitability of it is not that simple to call it profitable or not just based on a quick look at the prices. also it is not just bitcoin you can mine with ASICs, there is also altcoins which may be the reason why that first person franky quoted was talking about GPUs!
if you are interested in mining then start calculating everything. you can use one of those online calculators like https://www.coinwarz.com/calculators and try to do some speculation about the profit you may make. also know that it is changing. if you find it profitable now it may not be the same tomorrow. but also when mining altcoins you can always switch between them.
