Why do everyone so concerned about merit system though? It's not like you can't read some threads you're not allowed to post to. IMO just go by the flow, be honest with people, and make your words count, that way you'll get trusted and respected (and in forms of merit too).

It's the hierarchy - nobody wants to be at the bottom and not even be able to post pictures. Yo can buy high ranking account - but in my opinion this is not fair because again even on bitcointalk forum who is about fairness and decentralization people with money get the best of it.
