at first, all the big account would be zero out. and yes, all that coin you can not reverse and you lose them for good.
it might not effect too much if the exchange is small. if it's big, market would dump for a while.

Isn't it risky TBH to link your ethereum wallet and giving private key to someone else you don't know or have no info who is managing your money?
 
I have not heard for IDEX but I'll check it now but I've been using the Poloniex exchange for years and I think that I'm happy with them also using their mobile client which is great too.
