Interesting... I love the guy, and so far I never heard of anyone disliking him. I think you're in luck though, the nature of the movie makes it so there's not a whole lot of character acting and everything is delivered pretty matter of fact and straight forward. Watch it like an intense documentary and you'll get a kick out of it for sure, you see a lot of epic naval shit.

I wouldn't say Hanks is a great actor, far from terrible, but he hasn't got much range. But saying that, I haven't even seen Forest Gump.

You haven't seen Forest Gump! It's amazing. He's actually really good in that, forgot that one.

I haven't seen Philadelphia either. He played a few different parts in Cloud Atlas, but I've not seen that. I read the book and thought it was shit though. Had to really push through to finish it, but I think it'll work better as a film so I'm looking forward to watching it, especially since the Wachowski siblings directed it, but they havent done anything great since The Matrix. I need to watch that trilogy again.

Not seen Cloud Atlas either. Matrix trilogy is awesome. I think the second is my fave, more time in the matrix as oppose to fighting the robots in the real world.
