Well for me it's not just a gamble but it has risks , some people say it is but some pros don't believe it instead of arguing on same old *beep*, they tend to just focus on trading and investment, still i drop some link below to somehow expand your understanding if it is a tax or not, for me it's not, but then again i hope it help on future questions and clarification.

Yes it's not a tax but it is an investment and at the same time it is like gambling or taking risk. Some will get lucky some are not, but the reason why everyone is still here because they're hopeful.
